There she teaches a number of theory and studio classes including: Modern Dance Technique; Hip-Hop; Survey of Dance; Children, Creativity and the Fine Arts (an interdisciplinary education course); Functional Anatomy; and Bodywork. The Bodywork course series is a four-part course which takes an in-depth examination of the Pilates work, looking at the movement fundamentals, anatomy, and technical foundations involved in developing a strong Pilates practice. She has also served as adjunct faculty for Tarrant County Community College, Northwest Campus (2008-2010) and has been teaching a number of dance studio classes for students of all ages at the CD/ FW school since 2008. While pursuing her MFA at Texas Woman’s University Sarah acted as the co- coordinator of the Pilates studio at the dance department, where she was responsible for organizing and teaching weekly classes to all the students in the dance department for cross-training purposes. She also taught community classes in Pilates and other body conditioning practices.

Sarah has pursued continuing education in Pilates and fitness topics with notable instructors such as Shelley Estes, Karen Sanzo, Chris Robinson, Rebekah Rotstein, and Lisa McKenna.

Coursework within her undergraduate and graduate studies included Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Dance Kinesiology, Body Conditioning (Anatomy and fundamentals of Pilates), Effort Shape, Space Harmony, Laban Movement Analysis, and Pedagogy.

In addition to teaching Pilates at The Body Garage she has also taught Pilates mat for Texas Ballet Theater’s Summer Intensive, The Out on a Limb Dance Company Workshop, and the American College Dance Festival Regional Association festivals.

Sarah has been an in-house “mechanic” at The Body Garage since 2008. She greatly enjoys working with her Pilates clients and her dance students as a teacher of movement.
