Intermediate
Note: Intermediate level at The Body Garage is more advanced than Intermediate at most studios.

For students who already have a fairly extensive knowledge of basic AND intermediate level Pilates exercises and are ready to learn new exercises and further challenge their abilities. Students should have experienced the majority of the intermediate-level exercises in the context of basic/intermediate classes PRIOR to joining this level. Students must already have a good internal understanding of how to organize core support stabilization while in motion, and be able to demonstrate core support strength in a wide variety of positions without compromising their form. Students should already be thoroughly familiar with the many ways the various parts of the machines move, and how to negotiate their body weight with smooth control vs. the instability of the movement of the machine/ball/roller, etc. Students are required to test their skills through an ever-expanding range of variations and levels of complexity. Advanced exercises are frequently introduced and incorporated into "intermediate" classes, with the teachers providing detailed information regarding intent, cueing, and form. Advanced concepts continually challenging the "complexity" and "multi-tasking" of sequencing and variations on exercises are already expected at this level. Appropriate for those with many years of Pilates experience, but who may not be prepared to move to a higher level due to injuries/arthritis/various medical conditions.
